One diner who ordered the 1.5-person serving recalled an assortment that included squid, shellfish, white fish, lean tuna, egg, rolled sushi, gunkan sushi and inari. The variety and colours stood out. They also found the small portions of rice easy to eat and enjoyed the balance between the toppings and rice, which came apart neatly. Another diner was pleased that the nigiri came with soup and fruit, as well as a small piece of inari.
Chirashi brings the toppings and sushi rice together in one bowl. The listed price for lunch chirashi is 1,200 yen, or 1,300 yen for a larger serving. If you’d like a wider selection of toppings, Take Chirashi is another option, described as a classic made with wild-caught, raw toppings. One diner who ordered chirashi reported that it came with fish-head soup and fruit.
For those who would rather choose individual pieces, there is also nigiri made to order. The menu lists lean, medium-fatty and fatty cuts of raw honmaguro (bluefin tuna), describing the lean cut as savoury with a touch of acidity, the medium-fatty cut as aromatic and savoury, and the fatty cut as richly flavoured and fragrant. To try all three, choose the Tuna Selection; for a one-person serving of the day’s seasonal fish selected for you, there is Omakase Nigiri.
To finish with a roll, the Toro-taku roll pairs the rich sweetness of fatty tuna with the acidity and crunch of pickled daikon. The Ume-kyu roll, with plum and cucumber, offers a refreshing tartness.
